MAHATMA GANDHI UNIVERSITY
The Mahatma Gandhi University (formerly Gandhiji University) was established on 2nd October 1983, the 115th birthday of the father of the nation. H.E. Gyani Zail Singh, then President of India, has inaugurated the University. It has B+ accreditation and Assessment Council constituted by the University Grants Commission. The Head Quarters of the University is at Priyadarshini Hills, a picturesque terrain in Athirampuzha 13 Kms. away from Kottayam town. The University enrolls, 1,50,000 students on an average every year.

The school of Distance Education was establishment in 1989 with the objective of opening the portals of higher education to a large number of students, most of whom are not able to follow the mainstream of education owing to various reasons. In 1990, we launched the educational programmes including various graduate, postgraduate and certificate courses. From 2001 onwards, the School offers courses through the off-campus centres, to ensure better outreach by providing convenient venues within the proximity of the regions for conducting classes, practical training and examination.

It is a matter of gratification to state that the alternative stream of education opened by the School- ‘the off-campus learning programme’ is innovative and it has been widely accepted by the student community. The encouraging response from India and abroad add to our responsibility to serve in more effective manner with a learner-centered approach.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a tertiary degree in business management. Originally designed to provide engineers with management skills, today's MBA draws applicants from a range of disciplines.

An MBA is considered a professional Masters degree as well as a traditional or academic Masters degree. However, completion of a professional MBA does not usually preclude admission to a Ph.D. (program for research oriented engagements) although it could be helpful. Schools that offer MBA are usually known as either management or business schools.

The Indian Institute of Management Studies offers young men with a desire for handsome pay packets, a 12 months special training in food production. With eight months of intensive practical training and four months as apprentice in a first class hotel, the training will equip you for a career as a Chef in star hotels, flight catering units, mercantile ships, passenger ships, army, navy and air force establishments.
